SECURITY TRAINING AT MEGA INFRA PROJECT SITE

At the Mega Infra Project in Tuticorin, security training is thorough and tailored to meet both the size and the unique risks of large‑scale infrastructure development. Recruits undergo a comprehensive orientation covering the layout and perimeter of the worksite, with a focus on critical zones such as material storage yards, machinery zones, entry gates, scaffolding/height‑work areas, and contractor access points. Training includes site‑patrol procedures, checkpoint management, and visitor/contractor verification protocols to ensure only authorized personnel enter the site. Because such projects typically involve heavy equipment, construction hazards, and possibly hazardous materials, a major emphasis is placed on occupational safety, including identifying and managing fall risks, PPE usage, handling emergency shutdowns, and responding to accidents. Fire safety training—how to use fire extinguishers, how to activate alarm systems, how to perform safe evacuation—is also a key component. Trainees are taught to use surveillance and monitoring systems (CCTV, alarms, lighting), how to report and document incidents clearly, and to communicate with site management and emergency services. Equally important is training in legal and ethical duties, conflict de‑escalation, respect for workers and community, and maintaining professionalism. Finally, there are refresher drills and periodic audits to ensure consistent preparedness and compliance with safety, regulatory, and project standards.
